What are my qualifications?
I am a qualified Relate trained counsellor with over 20 years experience. I am also a psychosexual therapist having gained a post-graduate diploma in psychosexual therapy (2012).
I trained with the Tavistock Centre in 2018 to gain a qualification to work with Couples affected by DEPRESSION.
Am I a member of a professional body?
Yes. I am an accredited member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) and work within their code of ethics and guidelines. This means that I have regular supervision in Derby and attend necessary continual professional development courses each year to maintain my qualifications.
How long do sessions last?
Up to one hour
How long will you have to attend counselling?
That depends on you. We will continually review the process together and check out what you want to do and if you have achieved the goals that you came with. Usual attendance is between 6 and 20 weekly or fortnightly sessions.
Is it confidential?
I take confidentiality very seriously. I will not talk to anyone about the issues that you raise. The only exceptions to this is if you mention someone who is being harmed or at risk of harm, then I would talk to you about what we would need to do to protect that person’s safety. I may also mention issues raised in our sessions with my supervisor, as part of my professional agreement under COSRT’s code of ethics and guidelines.
How confidential is it in my home?
My counselling room is separate to my house, and discussions are never over heard. You will not knowingly meet anyone else as you come in and leave the house, so don’t worry about having to talk to anyone other than me.
